There is a Top 5 Worst Bugs list over in Tech, so I thought I would like to see what the top 5 most requested features are.
Wanna do this one a little differently. Each person please post just the 1 feature you want most implemented in the game.
Mine: - Permission Controls for scripts, clothing etc.
What is yours?

Camera angles need to be fixed even though you can move the camera manually, im just to lazy to do that every 5 seconds when im building something in a house..
There needs to be diffrent types of land in the future versions, such as sand, grass, mud, mountains, etc. and the avatar needs to react in diffrent ways depending on the environment. Such as, in a hot climate zone, the avatar will start sweating a little. in a cold, it would shiver.
there needs to be a water state. Like a pool when a avatar jumps in it it would swim in deep water and objects will float on them in the physics of sl. in shallow waters they would stand or sit depending what the user wants it to do.
and last .. In world weather. There could be times were its thundering and lightning or a cool breeze were the hair and the clothing would sway with the clothing. And rain could be added in and the avatar will react to it by using a umbrella.
Stuff like that would make it better than it is already.
Keep up the good work Linden Lab!

What do you mean by "controls for clothing/textures/scripts?" Can you give me a breakdown of what you have in mind?

he is talking about the same kind of permissions we have for objects. No-modify, modifiable, copyable, hidden. non-copyable And my top five features: - inventory item control(as mentioned above)
- script control of the our cameras.
- script control of more object properties(like shear, twist and cuts)
- chat tabs(this might be number three)
- the ability to lock an object to its current value along one of the world axis(this is low priority, since i think it was phoenix who said it was coming)

i find these useful... but in this order: - inventory item control
- chat tabs
- the ability to lock an object to its current value along one of the world axis
- script control of more object properties
- script control of the our cameras.

I was gonna start this thread, but I realized that there's so much stuff that the Lindens have said "post 1.0, not now" and the fact that the new Havok 2.0 engine is comming out (which could open up stuff we would ask) I figured "nah" I mostly want customizable gestures. *shrug* Then I can re-enact all the scenes from the Matrix

To save on my brain-power i liked most of BBC's ideas and one of Nada's that's been bugging me.
1) Customizable gestures "i want to do the Vulcan-high-five" 2) Inventory copy protection (scripts, textures and such) 3) Hi quality voice support "I think i know what the answer to this would be..." 4) script control of more object properties(like shear, twist and cuts) Damit i want to create single prim tv-screens or just boxes with ROUNDED corners!!! 5) Full Body Force feedback VR rigs
LOL, BBC - I'm not sure if i want to know what you had in mind with #5! But i'm sure there would be lots of takers on that one.

From: someone What do you mean by "controls for clothing/textures/scripts?" Can you give me a breakdown of what you have in mind? This has been brought up repeatedly so I'm feeling a little bummed that Lindens aren't sure what we mean. Primitives and therefore objects have controls (no copy no modify) so that if someone makes something and then sells it, the buyer cannot turn around and give or sell it to someone else. Right now this is untrue for clothing files (tee shirt icon), textures and scripts. I can buy an object, extract the script, make a new model, plunk in a script someone ELSE made and sell the object as my own. The hard working scripter is then bypassed and makes no further income off of their work. This is very UNFAIR. Same holds true for those who make custom textures and clothing. If you are reading this and didnt know, please respect that if you buy something it is NOT ok to turn around and give it to your friends. Tell them where you got it so the maker can afford to keep making.

I posted my #1 above, I'd also like to add "avatar files" to clothing, textures & scripts. If you can sell it, it should be protected. This is one of the problems with our current economy.
after some thought here are my 2-5
<2> "Smart Inventory" If I have items in folders I want the folders seen when I go to pick a texture. This makes selecting a texture much easier. I do not need to see hair textures and photos when Im looking for brushed steel.
<3> Modifyable object Meshes (squishy, springs, cloth) and more object options (placed hollow rather than fixed), round corner squares. One cool thing would be "clay" An object you could massage kind of like the land, into the shape you desire.... oooOOOOooohH! <4>More &/or custom gestures. Swim comes to mind. Water water everywhere but no swimming?.
<5>More sliders. I know some people think this is crazy because we have so many but frankly if we want to look more & more realistic this is necessary. These come to mind: Eyebrow width (nose to ear width), seperate lip controls (so you can have a fat lower & skinny upper lip), Ear placement (individual) up, down, front, back. No ears. Bigger ears. Larger & smaller head possibilities. Limb removal (hey there's a wheelchair inworld and a bunch of war guys, why not?). These are just off the top of my head.

Personally, I can keep myself content with the current tools for literally weeks, maybe even months.
What I'd like to see above all else are optimizations in the graphics engine, network transfer, the physics engine, etc.
It'll improve the health of the game (less network traffic = lower bandwidth = lower running costs) and make the game run much more smooth under high load (normal load once relased, really) overall.

Misnomer,
My confusion was only about the use of the world "controls." I'm used to referring to "the thingies that determine whether you can copy or edit something" as "permissions." I was definitely already aware of the need to expand permissions to cover texures, clothing, etc.
A bit of complexity comes in (both for the user interface and for the code) when you have permissioned items inside of other permissioned items. For example, presumably you shouldn't be able to copy objects that have no-copy textures on them. (And, of course, an object may have other objects inside of it, which in turn may contain notecards that contain embedded objects that have textures, etc.) This complexity can be managed, but it will take a significant amount of work, and that's the main reason why this feature hasn't been added already.

Thanks Aaron for the reply. I've actually really slowed making clothes since I see a lot more people wearing them than I know purchased them. While some clothes can be quite easy to make, others can take a lot of effort.
I'm pleased to hear that we were merely having an issue with semantics and this problem is in fact under consideration. Please note I never said it was an easy fix. I appreciate you guys (& gals) have a lot of irons in the fire trying to please a lot of people and nothing Im sure is as easy as one *could* assume.
