I propose a fourth option under "Show Names": Hover Names! When enabled, you wouldn't see names, but if you hovered your pointer over someone, their name would magically appear. It'd be a good way to simplify the view for most people.
Also, the new names could.. I don't know, fade in or something.

But a avatar's name DOES pop up if you hover your mouse over them. I use it all the time to find out who distant players are. Though it doesn't give any group titles they may be wearing.

I like this, but I think LL should spend its time elsewhere (fixing bugs, improving LSL, etc) at the current moment.
