Ok..I am new to SL but I have noticed that when I go on 'exploration' I actually don't use the teleports all the time. Just to look around, kinda 'take in the scenery' thing. Waypoints, markers, would be really neat for that.

Interesting idea AZ.

I'm new also and last night i spent time walking and it was much fun!

Got caught in deep ravines a couple of times as people had built their decks over top of 'em. LoL

Waypoints would have been an easy way to backtrak out of my unerground "trap".

Here's a helpful tip if you two get stuck again.

Learning to use the camera (alt and mouse or alt/ctrl and mouse) can help give you a view beyond where you are. You can find a object (any object) and right mouse click and choose 'sit'. Don't move the mouse or your AV but give it a moment and you should 'warp' right to the spot you chose to sit down at (unless you get the message you cant find a suitable spot, in that case find another and keep trying to till you do).

By doing this you get out of your hole you get stuck in and are able to continue about your exploration without having to lose your place in the sim you're in and continue onward.

Edit: as for waypoints, the game is ever changing. It would be kind of hard to stick in something like that. Try landmarks, there are ones that are no longer around if I were to use them. :(

Bravo for you, taking in the sights! More dwell for those of us who are landowners!

I have a nice mountain with a scenic view of the ocean... :D

I'm actually in favor of your suggestion - while the welcome areas have lots of neat signage and points of interest, many sim areas just kinda leave you to wander aimlessly. Not that that's a bad way to experience SL... and it wears off after a while once you get your bearings... but I'd like to see more reference-type objects tossed into the world - the main telehubs help this out a bit.

Truth be told, I've always found that in SL, as in RL, there's no shortage of friendly folks who'll be glad to tell you where to go and what do do with yourself there... :p
