Ok, seeing as 1.4 is right around the corner, how about slating this for 1.5? I'd love to be able to export my building designs out of SL and into some universal cad format or something. Scripters can do it, texture artists can do it.. how 'bout some lovin for the architects? LF

Hmm, would be nice.
I'd personaly settle for a .slo (SL Object) or something file type that can only be used for SL objects.
And also I'd settle for no outside object manipulation. So the file would just be for backup purposes with the option to later upload it.

This is one of those recurring demands, but with good reason.
Personally I'd like to see: - you can only export objects to which you have full permissions (ie mod, copy, trans, and this for all bits of that object, subobjects) - and there's no anti-exploitation reason why you couldnt actually import them back the other way, which could provide the possibility of using external tools for special effects
I'd like to see scripts exportable too, as .lsl files:
notecard -> .txt (ascii, cr/lf pair) script -> .lsl (ascii, cr/lf pair) object -> .slo (xml)
Ideally, you could just right-click a folder, and click "export to disk" and it would export all objects in that folder and subfolder, for which you have full mod, copy, trans perms.

A lot of people have proposed this a lot of times in the past, myself included. Like I posted on the other forum: From: someone I wish LL could make a mini-viewer and let us export our creations to separate files. If said mini-viewer were turned into a browser plugin, SL could eventually become the next generation of Flash / Director! Imagine the millions of people who endlessly forward crap to each other, forwarding cute 3D animations made in SL. LL would get rich real fast
