Recently a new group was formed, interested in using SL to support non-profit RL organizations. This is a great idea, and in keeping with the spirit of inclusiveness the founder proposed a vote by all members on the initial by-laws.
Unfortunately, the vote proposal system is flawed. Several times when an officer (and there are over a dozen) went to vote, instead she would trigger a new copy of the proposal! And when other officers received this new proposal, they also triggered new copies of the same proposal.
The end result was a pile of over a dozen proposals to vote on, each one the same.
Could someone who has triggered these extra votes on accident give any hints as to what happened?
Secondly, each of the proposals has a quorum attached to it, which defaults to the size of the entire group membership. While this might work in groups of 3, it's useless for larger ones. Please set the default quorum to one more than half the membership. With a full-membership quorum all it takes is one abstention for the vote to fail.
This has been this way for a long time. Most groups try it once, give up and become opt-in dictatorships instead. (I.E. A couple of leaders say "hey, let's do this" and everyone listens or they don't.) This is unacceptable for any large-scale democratically inclined group.
Let's get voting to actually work properly!

I *think* this is how I caused my double (in another vote, sorry DarkWood). When I tried to double click on the vote, I wasn't quite 100% smooth - I think I draged my first click about 1 pixel or so. I *think* this is what caused my second vote. I think you can duplicate a vote by dragging it if you are an officer, I don't think you should be able to.

Let's get voting to actually work properly! Ananda - yes i offered my frustrations re: our non-profit group at the Features Thread. My biggest frustrations are: -no way to have a list of all group members... -no way to communicate with group members except by putting each calling card (which i don't have for every group member) into a folder and then manually dropping a Note Card on each cc. SL is growning and so are groups! We need and effective tools to manager large groups! I am willing to work with other groups to develop a set of features we need for effective group management - with the goal of sending our humble request to LL.
