I see a lot of suggestions for attached objects and almost all are about adding new attachment points. Mostly from angry furrys who cant wear their outfits and accessories/weapons at the same time. My suggestion is to allocate an amount of attached objects each avatar can have. About 20-30 might be enough but give lots of freedom to attach as many of their objects to whichever points they choose within this limit. Like a person to equip 5 objects to their spine or all 20-30 to their skull. I know being able to attach so many to a single stable point might seem excessive but I know content creators will find this very useful. This would also solve other problems such as the need for "Locking Attachment Points". People get angry when things like collars are removed when a person attaches something and has no way to know which position it attaches. With multiple attachments to a point the collar stays on and everyones happy. Prop: 2612 ( click here to vote)

I've given this thought and one idea came to mind would be to "double up" the current positions. Maybe add say a few for fingers, toes, and/or neck as well? You need to have them universal instead of "plug and play" in order to allow things to be made and sized. Alot of people in SL have issue splacing attachments or shaping them and having them predone is best. Specially for new people.

I agree with the initial suggestion, I've been hoping for exactly such a system for a while, an overall limit that allows you to apply any number of attachments to a single point up to the limit. An additional idea to make this more workable is to have an 'attachments' button beside inventory (or a tab in inventory windows). This lists all inventory items that you are currently wearing (including clothes) listed by body area (e.g head/face, upper body, lower body) and then by attachment point. Categories and attachment points behave just like folders (but would probably have pretty little icons ). So I could have: \/ Head (2 items) \/ Skull (2 items) - Haravikk's head - Haravikk's helmet > Eyes (0 items) > Ears (0 items) > Etc. \/ Upper Body (2 items) > Chest (0 items) > Spine (1 item) \/ Stomach (1 item) - Haravikk's tail > Etc. > Lower Body Hopefully that gives an idea, a down arrow (\/) indicates an open folder, while a horizontal arrow (> indicates a closed one, a hyphen (-) indicates an object on that point. This way you can quickly and easily add/remove attachments, avoiding issues with adding items when you want to remove them etc. Default behaviour would be as it is now (replace items), to add multiple items to a point you'd use this new window/tab.

People mostly want additional positions in their Skull, Hands, Spine, Chest and Pelvis so the other positions get taken by utilities like AO's which would be nice to keep all in the same place. Adding new positions for other parts/joints that move is a good thing but most of the important ones are covered except fingers for wedding rings.

I really like that inventory idea it sounds quick and easy to organise and shouldnt be too hard to create. The interface ideas I had for accessing attached items were mostly taken from MMORPGs which would be lots more time to create and wouldnt be as effective. I was afraid suggesting something like that would make the original suggestion less likely to happen but your idea would make it lots easier to use.

well doubling up is useful for a few reasons cause we already have those spots and the "marks" for them. Granted maybe some aren't needed AS much but people might have a use hence adding them. I coudl easily use extras all around except MAYBE shoulders and/or eyes...even then though...yeah I could. As for the folder idea you can KINDA see that now if you type " (WORN) " in your inventory search.

From: Krazzora Zaftig As for the folder idea you can KINDA see that now if you type " (WORN) " in your inventory search. Yeah, which is handy, but all it takes is a few items such as 'worn jeans' and 'worn t-shirt' to start throwing that off, plus there's no real order which makes it tricky. The idea for the attachments layout is to make it much easier to see what you on you with a couple clicks, and following that add/remove multiple items without the potential confusion or hassle that dialogues and changed behaviour could cause. e.g, if I dragged a folder onto myself after this was implemented then I could end up wearing two avatars at once, which is no good, so that behaviour shouldn't change, if I was asked every time "do you wish to replace the item in this spot or add to it" it would be annoying. So really the inventory idea is a complimentary suggestion, when I made a similar post (asking for multiple attachments per point) one of the main responses was 'how do you make it work'. I posted my bit because that is a solution I finally came up with that makes multiple attachments per point more useable

Object attachment points
01-04-2007 02:11
I simply was unwilling to read all the replies and this may have been suggested...
Why not use multilayer attachment points?
It's a concept used in graphics programs all the time. The object uses the same space or attachment point but, can be layered up or down for an overlapping affect.
I'm tired of being only able to use one attachment point and having to manually move objects around to garner so-so capability. Why not just move objects forward or backward on the same attachment point for the proper visual effect? It's so simple...

From: Argent Stonecutter Try searching for " worn". Make me That's not what my post is about, (worn on blah blah) isn't going to help if they add multiple attachments per point, my post was a complimentary suggestion that removes one of the major problems with that feature, namely "How do you manage such a system?"

I was thinking 20-30 as a limit... maybe 20 is more than enough for me.
