Temporary Image Upload

I would like to be able to upload an image with the limitation that it would be deleted in a short amount of time (e.g. one minute). This would allow me to tweak textures without spending $10 for each failed experiment. I'm encouraged to build because I get my money back when I destroy ugly things. I would be more encouraged to texture things nicely if I could experiment without the permanent loss of money.

I can easily think of a way in which this feature might be abused to upload images for free, but I thought I would get the idea out there in case people could improve on it.

(My apologies if this has been suggested before; I looked through the forum and didn't see it)

Oooh this is a good one. I really like experimenting with these things. While we're on the topic, how about you can make it perminant for the remaining cost before it gets deleted? That would be a painsaver for sure.

Seconded!

Thirded! This would be a godsend for clothing makers.

I would suggest longer than 1 minute, but I too support the idea. I would even be willing to pay more per upload of files I wanted to keep, if there was a way of not paying for the crapola ones.

being able to view textures on your avatar and edit your avatar offline might be a more attractive option for the Lindens since they won't have to pay for the bandwidth of people uploading those textures or storage for them even if it was just temporary. and you know if people could do this the amount of bandwidth used uploading textures would go through the roof.

i'd *love* a feature like this but another thing to remember is that uploads serve as a money sink draining people's resources and helping keep inflation in check. i don't ever expect things to get cheaper. easier maybe but not cheaper. :)

Thats a good idea, in fact Id like to see more offline editors in general. However... I know there are builders out there who want to see the texture applied to a prim... and not all builders have a 3D modelling engine outside of game...

I want this next week, and an offline avatar painter (I am talking, give me an airbrush and let me paint directly on the avatar) whenever LL can get to it. :)

WOW that's an awesome idea!!!

Perfecting textures is one of the most difficult parts of 3d modelling (IMO)!!!
