There are often posts in resident anwers from people who want to know if they can change their name. Short of creating an alternate account, that's not possible.
So I have a fairly low-tech suggestion - that residents are offered two windows of opportunity to change their avatar name.
1) On their very first log-in after initial registration.
2) On upgrading from basic to Premium account.
This would also be a small incentive to go Premium for those who might be wavering but are coming to regret calling themselves something like 'Fartpantz446' !!

Thought I read somewhere that LL can do this, when they want to, but that it's not just changing some form somewhere - it's actually a bunch of steps and takes a while to do. (edit: or maybe it was group renames where I read this..)

Heck, I am wondering when the Lindens will even come up with a NEW selection of little-wanted Last Names? It's been months now that the current list has been put up. They seem to have fallen asleep on this. We used to get a new selection of Last names every couple of weeks. Now, that same list is growing fungus under its toenails. As a result, many good quality First-names are useless with ANY of the current last-names because they are all 'taken.' So how much longer are we stuck with no new last-names?  _____________________
