Extend sl payments to rl?

I wonder if there could be a market to extend the linden payment system to real life.

You have a linden balance. So you want to buy a paper, ring the paper dispenser with a mobile phone message containing your encrypted password and user name, it debits your account with the cost of the paper, issues you a paper.

Far fetched? LL have developed a magnificent micro payment system that could well be extended to RL. They could allow external access for a 1% fee and allow us to automatically make any of those pesky small change payments and we do not need all those coins that weigh down our pockets or purses. Available world wide!

Could be an alternative for the smart card?

Not needed. In here where I live some products can already be paid with phone (like pizza and drinks), so your idea is not new. Those payments are charged in your phone bill. I do not see any reasons why Linden payment system should be extended to real life.
