What I'm after here, is a way to avoid what happened last night to me, and has happened several times my time here.
I lost an object. I spent 3 hours searching for it. I didn't find it. Why did I spend so much time looking for it? Because it is a 2mx2mx2m cube, and it is likely lost at a high altitude.... and I'm thinking the taxes will be high on it. It did not go off world (it's not in Lost+Found). It did not self destruct (it's not in Trash). (Also, our sim is 45+% owned, and it's likely that it won't decay to public.)
Now, it is possible there is a still a bug keeping stray objects from going into Lost+Found or Trash when appropriate, but what I am asking for in this message would still be worthwhile, even if so.
My thought would be to have my objects, by default, die after an hour or so. If I had that, I woldn't worry about lost objects like this one. However, I don't want to have to drag a script onto each and every primitive I make. If I'm working on something, I can refresh the script to reset the time; when I'm done with something, I can remove the script so it doesn't remove my work from the world. I'm just looking for an easy way to get this script onto each and everything I make so I don't lose more objects.... but I'm sure there more applications that people can imagine and use.
I think the general case has merit, but if we can't have that, how about a [ ] Solidify select box on the Object panel (Next to [ ] Lock and [ ] Physics) Have objects decay to Trash folder after two hours if you don't check the [ ] Solidify box. (This is not an ideal solution, but I'd take that if I can't get what I proposed above.)
Thanks
