Hey, you know what would be really cool? It'd be so neat if you could rez an object, edit it in world, and then save the changes back to the same object in your inventory. It'd be even cooler if you had a gun rezzed, and you could drag the projectile out to rez it, change the projectile, and save it back into the gun. It'd save a lot of take/delete/drag operations.
Guess what? Both of these features already exist, folks! I don't think I'm the only one who has completely missed this sorely needed but highly obscured feature. Here's how it works.
Rez something from your inventory. Select it with the object editor, and go to the Tools menu and notice that "Save object back to My Inventory" is available. If you make changes and select this, your inventory copy will be replaced with the changed copy.
Rez something (like a projectile in a weapon) from an object's inventory directly. Make changes, and save it back to the gun by selecting the "Save object back to object contents" menu item.
This would have saved me TONS of work in the past, and I really wish I'd known about it before now. I basically stumbled over it when someone mentioned it in the wiki. Tell all of your friends. I think LL should publicize this feature, because it could save people a lot of time. In the past, I've had to rez projectiles, take a copy back into inventory, delete the original projectile from my gun, and then drag the new one in, for EVERY CHANGE. I didn't know there was a better way.
