Prop: 3133 - Sine curves applied to prim axisses
Category: building Sub: primitive types Added: 2007-04-04
Feature Detail: Allowing sine curves to be aplied to an axis of a prim would allow for lots of interesting new shapes within a single prim.
Many architects in SL for example, use ramps instead of stairs, just for the sake of saving prims. With a wellplaced sine across one axis of a ramp, the builder could give the impression of some proper stairs, especially if there was also a feature included to smooth or edge the curves.
Clothing designers would also have use for this, for example to make a flowing skirt from a single prim, instead of having to use 3 to 6.
Prop: 3132 - Dressable Character Dummies / Manequin Doll
Category: avatar Sub: clothing Added: 2007-04-04
Feature Detail: Dressable Character Dummies / Manequin Doll, this would basically be a physical copy of yourself on which you can try out clothes, shapes, hair and skin. Possibly with the option for shopkeepers to supply links to try clothes onto them, so customers can "try before buy".
The original state upon summoning would be the exact shape, skin, hair, clothes and attachments that the owner wears. A reset button would be available to always be able to reset the doll to the state in which you are.
Above the dummy, the owners name would be visible, but in green instead of the usual orange from a real avatar.
Items on the dummies would be representations of the "real" items. So an item from a vendor could be tried onto the dummy, but would of course not be placed in your inventory upon removal.
It should be possible to toggle the visibility of the dummy between local and worldwide, so other people could see it too, or it would only be rendered on your own computer.
Because of it being possibly visible to other people, there should be a maximum primsize of maybe 1 meter, and a prim range from its attachment point of no more then 30 centimeters. Otherwise it would be a very simple griefing tool, by just placing a huge dummy on top of someone else's objects.
To further reduce the possibility of griefing with this feature, Land owners should be able to limit the use of dummies on their property. If they forbid the use, the dummy is automatically only rendered locally on its' owners computer.
Furthermore, a dummy, including it's attachments would be "phantom": i.e.: everybody can just walk through it if they want.
One might like to have a dummy placed in his/her house. But this could result in problems while shopping. So if it's out of range, a simple "summon" button should suffice. A player would be limited to having only 1 dummy per avatar!
Scripting would be limited on a dummy. Only on-click events and self-events would be possible. So a dummy couldn't fire a gun, but it could be animated or moved to a certain degree. Or for example give a notecard upon clicking.
