Please please please, a way to send messages to a group of people while offline? There's no way currently to do that, and it makes coordinating with people very difficult. The 'group' function only lets you open a chat that isn't retransmitted to people offline.

It used to be that people offline would get group messages and they thankfully changed it.

Think about most of the messages in a group chat. "Yeah" "Good idea" "ok" "no" "um...." At best 1 in every 4 messages has actually content. I wasn't the only person to turn on my computer after 1 night - before we went 24/7! - with over 80 messages in my inbox.

I don't wanna be spammed. However I can work up a script that allows people to 'register' with it and allows specific people to send messages to everyone who is registered via IM (so they will get it online or offline if they have that enabled). I could also do one that takes e-mails on a notecard perhaps but privacy becomes more of an issue.

However the 20sec delay after IMs would really hurt this script.

Heh.. David Linden did an instructor group chat and I had like 15 messages from that alone just the other day. A group EMAIL function where we could send a single message to everyone is great, but.. if nothing else I'd consider setting up a forum.

As it is, I'm with Ama.. 100+ group messages a day does not make me dance in delight. ^.~

Perhaps Linden Labs would be willing to set up email lists for groups on their mailserver. This can be gotten at using objects, so you send a message to an object and voila. Maybe officers can have privileges via the SL website.

However the next best thing seems to be this mass-IM script, despite the hurt it would have.

Personally I'd like a way to do it without using email. For one thing, there's the privacy issue, and for that reason I usually set up another email address when I give it out to a new group of people. Then it's just one more thing to check.
It'd be nice if there was a way to do it in-game. Hmm...are we able to drop notecards to a whole group? If we haven't before, that would solve the problem.
