I know this has been mentioned a time or two before but I am rementioning it as a twist.
Currently we all have a TON of Items in our Inventory. The big thing is all those Items that are in our Inventory are also on the server which creates massive upload times on our Inventory.
There are a lot of things that we want to keep but after my little experiment recently a lot of my stuff was purged off the servers.
So in theory is there a way possibly with "encryption" that we could have a "Historical" inventory that only through an ingame window could be parused and transfered between our normal inventory and a Historical one. The Historical one residing on our PC not on the Linen Lab servers.
I see this as a way to distribute a lot of the information that we keep in our inventorys to our personal computers. Thus speeding up the access time to the hard drives there at Linden Lab. Also by having the Historical Inventorys we could narrow down what we have currently active.
In addition if an object texture or Item is active in world when you tried to place it in Historical it would warn you that the object/texture/script you are placing in Historical is still active by you in world. This would help you track down those little nasties that got away from you.
If that Item had been sold/given away then those owners of that inventory are responcible for those items that carries thier names on the attributes.
In essence it would purge a lot of data from the Linden servers and shorten some script lists as a server cycles looking for objects/textures/scripts that could possibly be running if a person put them out.
The other thing about a historical inventory would be if it were to be used again it would have to be put back in normal inventory before it could be used thus reseting its attributes and making it available on the servers because it would have to be "Uploaded back to the world."
I hope I have explained my Idea clearly if not I will try to answer any questions to the best of my ability.
Sincerely, Shadow Weaver
