https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Inventory_UI_Design There are some possible changes in the inventory system being discussed, drastic changes, which forums readers might want to check the wiki about. I'd love to to paste the whole thing here but it's too big to do without proper formatting and we don't get to use proper formatting here like real forums do. So here's the introduction. See https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Inventory_UI_Design for the rest of the story, in words of Paul Harvey. From: someone Thoughts on Inventory UI in SL By Kelly Linden 14:01, 12 March 2007 (PDT) Right now our inventory is already too complicated for new users with few items and not powerful enough for advanced users with thousands of items. In the end we end up with an inventory that is not good for anyone. At the same time, making it more complex, adding filters and links and more and more is not likely to make it really usable for anyone but the most hard core. I think something drastic is probably needed to make our inventory actually work, and I'd love to be part of a discussion about it https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Inventory_UI_Design

Ick . I see a lot of "ooo shiny" changes there that don't actually make things any easier in practice, or don't even make sense for that matter...

I found that a bit scary, that's why I posted the link.
What other thing could the people that would work on that project be working on instead of that project?

something i would like to see, is the ability to change information on objects held in the inventory without having to rez them first.. Presently one can only look at the properties on right clicking the object without rezzing it? if i make a copy of an object.. i know what it is.. but i want, maybe to change its size, rotation, or the script it holds in contents... or some other detail, before rezzing it.. being able to do that, would be very usefull, save me time, and save SL traffic... Laughs, of course now ive made this post someone will tell me i can do that already! but ive not seen it as an obvious pointer.. so even if it is possible to alter General,Object,Features,Texture and Content on an object without rezzing, that would be something i would like made more obvious.

Id just be happy to have my items in my inventory to rez when I want them. Im still discovering things missing from an inventory loss of a few months ago

I was forced to remove a misplaced apostrophe before I could read that page. Thank goodness for wikis; if it had been in a static document that would have annoyed me so much that I would have been unable to concentrate on it at all.

I just hope they don't get too focused on the "simplify for new users" aspect, and forget the "flexibility and power for advanced users" aspect. Most of the suggestions seem aimed at the former.

I like the idea, but I have a nagging feeling something that sounds great upon implementation will not be what I expect and will be Very Bad.

Seems sensible to me
The directory names for photos i already use as textures are not photos and bloody difficult to seperate into people v themes
as for wearable containers, good. specially if prim shoes get worn at the same time as the suit all in one go. It would also help if it didn't dump the HUDs which can be worn as when outfits worn manually.
I like it
I would also be good to have a TESTING folder for new aquisitions, some of which turn out to be cheap trash, just like RL junk mail

From: Archie Lukas The directory names for photos i already use as textures are not photos and bloody difficult to seperate into people v themes I actually like the two different folders since it's the difference between random things I take pictures of, and random pictures people drop on me . From: someone as for wearable containers, good. We already have that though, it's the exact same thing as "outfit folders". The only difference would be that it would look like one item instead of a folder.
