With 1.2, regular avatars that stand around eventually go into a gesture that makes it look like part of their hands are in their legs, or caressing their front upper thighs all pervy like. For avatars that have any kind of attachments around the torso/hips/legs area, it looks like the avatar is either trying to eviscerate itself, or like the hands are down the pants. It was kind of amusing at first but now it's getting old.
I'd like a slider that lets me make sure the hands stay at a certain minimum distance from where the avatar's hips are. Even more than that I'd like the ability to directly edit my gestures. I've seen more and more people going with non-human avatars, and that often involves "suits." It would be a big help to us, and to people who just want to have more control over their regular human(oid) avatars.

That's a bug? I thought it was a new 1.2 masturbatory pose. My little hand sure wiggles around a lot when I akimbo or whatever it's called.
Still makes me laugh, but kitty is beginning to wonder what I'm up to.

How about the Linden's give us some smoother animations like in THERE (come on, you have to admit that THERE has very smooth animations). Perhaps we can even choose what our idle animations are, and turn them off, too.

Ive said it before and I'll say it again. For all the wonderful research at LL I have to wonder why seemingly no one has researched body language.
Default poses in SL have always seemed closed, stand offish or aggressive. We need body language that is more open and friendly.

Hehe, yeah, we need someone like Juanita's grandma to find out when I'm pregnant... I mean.. um... nvm.
But yes, overall I agree. Much more open body language, and I wouldn't mind some facial expressions to go with it.

From: someone Originally posted by Maxx Monde We need the 'juanita' equivalent from 'Snowcrash' to do nothing but facial expression/body language design. I'd prefer a team of women, as men aren't exactly the masters of nuance when it comes to things like that. Implementation, perhaps, but not the original design scope creators. If they're all dames, how do we know they won't give all us fellas a bunch of "bishounen" gestures? Really, that whole thing in Snow Crash is just a generalization to be taken with a grain of salt. I don't care if it's a man or a woman designing my gestures, but they should be somewhat learned in the field of body language and what I suppose you'd call human kinematics (i.e. the way different humans move their limbs.)

This would be awsome I'm all for better gestures and movements. Would be cool if we could set our mood too, like /pissedoff then we stomp our feet angryly as we walk around and go into random tantrums

All of this could be solved at the same time custom animations are put in, since they'd probably want to revisit the entire AV animation system anyway.

As a user of both There and SL, I wonder why our avatars in SL often look so stilted and awkward when moving around. For all the creativity present in this game, it's a surprise.
