would maybe a count down on linking pieces be handy ?
as you add a piece it could give you a count so you wont over the max linked pieces.
When you link too many pieces and let go they all unlink again.
maybe there is some other way to add ease to linking, any ideas?

My suggestion would be sub-parents. after all, it takes a community to raise a child....uh...kinda. Actually, I just look forward to some clever way to do fun multi axis rotations and stuff.
