new forum suggestion - Groups!

i believe it's been suggested before, but i believe it warrants being brought up again.

can we have a "Groups" forum?

instead of posting in "World of SL" we could post in "Groups".. great for discussing stuff, not to mention it would bolster the groups to be more active.

comments? suggestions?

Would this be discussion ABOUT groups, or for groups to discuss things privately? How do you envision it working?

Personally, I think there needs to be a clearer distinction between "The World of SL", (formerly "General Discussion", "The 'Real' World", (formerly "Off-Topic" and "Way Off-Topic", the "Haw! I can swear!" forum.

I want ANOTHER forum labelled "off-topic" for stuff like all those stupid "Official 1 letter threads". They're so annoying and don't add anything to any of those existing forums.

I also want a polls forum. That's right, a forum specifically for people to post polls and surveys. Obviously stuff like "Is Catherine an asshole?" would be a breach of ToS, but that's okay because that's an easy one to answer anyway.

And a "For Sale" forum. People selling land, selling whatever... wanting to buy land... I don't want to read about that either. Put it where people who do can read about it.

Yes, most of these suggestions are about compartmentalizing discussion, which was the whole point. People only want to read what interests them specifically.

i've been browsing these forums for a few days already and i do wish the posts were more organised.

i like the idea for "for sale" forums. i'd like to expand on that and maybe make it a "classified's" forum? not only would people post items they're selling or willing to purchase. but also it'd be a place where members can post "for hire" or "seeking employment" threads.

becuz, i'm a "pixel tailor" but i have no store, no funds, and i just want a small job to help pay for the textures i upload. but i don't see any way for me to find information like that while in game. it would be much easier to just pop in a forum and browse the "wanted" threads and just IM or PM anyone who's hiring. and then see how it goes from there.

hope this made sense. i type alot but i never know if i'm really making any sense.

- actually, either. talk about groups, threads for groups to discuss things.. with the knowledge that antone could read it. but general group announcements, ideas that need to be hashed out, etc.. would benefit from such a forum.
..it could even be used to offer recruitment. a place where one could 'advertise' groups.. in addition to the other features i listed above.

excellent suggestions! i think a 'polls' forum, a geberal 'off-topic' forum, and the 'for sale' forum are all great ideas.

first.. welcome to SL! second, i agree.. this is generally what SLers have been clamoring for recently. a "classifieds" forum, methinks, is the most important one to implement!

That's a great idea Lash. I found some work via the "World of SL" forum. But certainly there are many people that are seeking texture artists and scripters who would use such a forum. It's too bad that there is no easy way to hire and be hired. Or, you could just start an employment agency (AV Power). Consiter your idea endorsed.
