Full-functionality from Mouselook

I'm someone who likes to be able to use Mouselook permanently. It provides the fullest immersion experience possible.

As an example of my depth of feeling on this, I didn't play DAOC precisely because it has almost no support for permanent Mouselook, ditto for AC.

I'd like to be able to do everything I can do from non-mouselook when I am in mouselook:
- access menus
- access inventory
- chat
- script

As a good model for a system that works really nicely, the eq mouselook system is not bad.

I just want to be able to read the name/description/owner/status tooltip for whatever object I'm pointing at, while in mouselook mode...

Perhaps when I hold down the alt or shift key for a second, it could pop up the tooltip?

Yes, please! Full functionality in moselook would be GREAT! I have asked for this before, but still no go. :-(

I'm getting tired of looking at the back of my head ;-)

I would like this.

Maybe have it so if you hold down Alt or something it shows your GUI and you stay in mouse look but your mouse arrow apears and your view stops moving and then you can use your mouse for the GUI while staying in that view.

jus to get an idea goin for HOW that would work (given IN mouselook yer mouse is well... looking) we'd need to have it set with some form of 'i want a pointer now' toggle (like the ~ key or somethin which would let you use the interface like in third person view. then hit ~ again and the cursor would dissapear and return to the current looking mode

You can hit Alt, or Ctrl, I forget which.. and get your pointer back. This lets you interact with objects or GUI windows you've brought up via the kb shortcuts. I think all you miss out on is the menu bar and the toolbar? Though the toolbar isn't much of a loss. ;)

Does it let you edit and IM too?

I dunno, I never use mouselook unless I have to, hate it. First person view is for first person shooters. :P

I do know it gets you back a cursor you can use to interact with GUI elements and in-world objects. So that's a yes for IMing, you just have to hit Ctrl-T to bring up the window. As for editing.. Not sure why you'd want to edit objects in mouselook though, given you can put the camera anywhere with alt-zoom in 3rd person, as opposed to sticking it to your face in first.

Yeah, not that some people wouldn't have a use for it, but you'd REALLY be crippling your building ability doing this. I think alt-click acts like a "touch", not sure what key (if any) literally gets your cursor back...never cared to find out really.

I'd be happy simply having the ability to make your own AV invisible...kind of a pseudo mouselook mode. Sometimes my AV just gets in the way.

This wouldn't replace mouselook mode, since you would still need to go into mouselook for certain things to work, like guns, etc. But it would approximate the 1st person perspective since the default perspective seems to be just behind the AV.

Ultimately, I still think full abilities should be possible in true mouselook somehow.

Thoughts?

I have absolutely no idea if this is possible or not, but look in the debug menu and see if you can do that. I wouldn't doubt it...

Slightly OT. Can you lock the camera in place. So that if you position it somewhere else using Alt it stays there, even if you start walking?

Maybe, maybe with an attachment that is a vehicle. Possibly this is a solution to the problem, and doesnt require any SL modification. Worth a try.
