Inventory Control Feature

Do you think 'search duplicate items' would be a good inventory option?

Definately Yes!

Wouldn't effect me either way.

No, we don't need this feature.

I suggest that a feature be added to inventory that allows us to find duplicates of items. Many of us have a lot of copyable items in inventory that we've rezzed then picked up instead of deleted. Over time this causes many version of the exact same item in inventory. Some of the texture storage vendors have a feature that allows us to search for duplicates and I think this would be a huge asset to add to inventory 'search'. This would help us get our out of control inventories to a much more manageable state. In the long run this could help everyone's performance.

Thank you for considering this suggestion,

Why not just type the name of the object to see how many appear in your inventory search?

I guess you mean an automatic "Show duplicates" type of tab or option.

It could be helpful, but i guess i would rather them focus on other things.

People can still hunt dupes if they wish to clear their inventory, the conventional way.

The name alone wont work, hehehe... think of all the unnamed objects people create . :)

size and creation date need to be in the sort too.

Well this has always been known.

Preferably a search by Creator.

Thanks for the reply's and votes. :)

My problem is that I have almost 40,000 items in inventory. I don't even know what's in there for certain without spending many days exploring it by hand. If I could just choose, "find duplicates" it would save hours upon hours of time. Some of the duplicates are me as creator, some are other creators. I just found 15 plants that are copyable, why do I need 15 if they are copyable? I only need one.... there are so many items like that, I have no clue what they are named until I find them, that's why I can't just type it into search...

Oh I do hope they come out with this feature, I think I could cut my inventory down to a reasonable size if only I could get rid of duplicates.

I have many objects named "object" that aren't duplicates, but I'm pretty sure that I've got multiple textures/gestures/animations with the same UUID and different names by now.
