It surprises me that Second Life provides very little in the way of user interface with regards to data entry.

We desperately need some way for residents to enter information into forms and have those forms interact with objects and the rest of the SL interface (chat, im, email, etc.).

Does LL have any plans to implement common form elements such as textboxes, checkboxes, sliders, radio buttons, etc? If these were added they would enable many more truly wonderful and useful things to be built. We could move to building actual *applications* in SL!

Pleaseohpleaseohpleaseplease let me build forms in SL!

And I understand that HTML-on-a-prim will one day handle forms, but we need native form tools, too!

I posted a JIRA for this, it's more HUD-centric but I did note that other objects could possible use it too. Here's the JIRA-issue:
http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-3045

Interfaces with objects are currently very clunky, having to click an object and type into chat on a private channel is an absolutely horrible way to do something! llTextBox() is apparently coming (you can add it to scripts already but the viewer doesn't support it), to allow for text-entry dialogues, but it's still a very poor, limited form of communication. Meanwhile the SL viewer itself has a rich suite of interface elements that can created from XML templates, it seems silly that we can't leverage that for some really intuitive interfaces.
