Suggestion Re: transaction limits

I'm pretty new to SL, and I really like what I see of the in-world features so far.

But there's one thing I don't like - in fact that I find lamentably unacceptable - the transaction limit I'm trapped in. When I upgraded to premium membership, the webpage didn't make it at all clear that my subscription would count against my monthly transaction limit of $25 (in fact it implied the exact opposite, since I assumed this would be a recurring payment!) so because I chose to pay $22.50 quarterly, I'm stuck with a spendable balance of US$2.50 for the rest of this month.

That's crazy! I can't add any credit to my account, or even request a review for 24 days ("psimagus Hax is currently too new to Second Life to request a limits increase. Please check back in approximately 24 days.";) - I basically have to waste a month I've already paid for, twiddling my thumbs, unable to buy the land I want to buy and get on with building the sim I want to build, because I have L$77 to last me 24 days. Thanks a bunch guys!
Oh, I know it won't be entirely wasted - I can play in the sandboxes and work on learning to script, but it severely limits my use of the system that I've already paid for, and I have to say that I'm very not happy with that.
I know credit card security is an issue, but this is ridiculous. If Amazon, or easynews, or eBay did that to me, I'd never shop with them again.

And when I try to contact support, I get:

"Parature is committed to providing our customers with quality service and solutions. To satisfy this commitment to our valued customers, scheduled maintenance is a necessary occurrence.

A software maintenance will occur on July 7th between the hours of 09:00 PM EDT and 05:00 AM EDT.

Parature realizes how important your support solution is to your business, and we appreciate your patience during this time.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide you with a support solution that meets your customer service needs."

The irony of that last line is not lost on me :-(

So to return to topic, my feature suggestion is to add a bit of flexibility to your billing systems and transaction policies (and state them more clearly during payment processes on your website,) and LET ME PAY YOU GUYS instead of d***ing me around. This whole nonsense DOES NOT meet my "customer service needs", and it's not even good business to prevent people from purchasing services from you - it's really dumb business.

###

Thanks for the supportive IM I received from someone - sorry I got logged out (which locks up my computer for some reason) before I could respond.
On the bright side, I have earnt another L$4 mopping floors this morning, but it's going to be a long time before I can afford the land tier fee, let alone a 1/32 plot of land!

You can easily overcome LL's transaction limits...just do your business elsewhere!

Set up an account with SL Exchange, http://www.slexchange.com. Then buy up to US$90 with PayPal or credit card. Then convert some or all of it to $L. Then log in-world and go to any SLExchange ATM machine and make a withdrawal.

Slexchange also has a useful set of alternative forums, shopping, and land for sale links and ads, most of which are equipped with a SLURL to direct you in-world.

Thanks for the advice! I had looked at a couple of websites, but I was put off by some of the exchange rates (eg an extortionate US$8.92/1000L on http://www.tradelindens.com!)
slexchange.com looks a lot more promising!

Just be aware of one thing so you are not suprised. On SLexchange they mention certain transactions are manually approved and can take up to 48 hours (I think it was 48). When I signed in and did my $50 purchase I was quite dissapointed to find out that it was not immediate. After looking around the forums there I found it was done when the transaction met some criteria they were looking for becasue of potential fraud.

It did not take me 48 hours though, within about 3 I was ready to go. I think it just depends on the time of day as to when they can do the manual approval. Do not let that turn you away from them, it is a great site and service.

In a simelar vein, I have enough L$ in world to go premium ... but I can not use them directly to go premium because I have a sell limit on Lindex of zero! (I have to date no Lindex transactions)

A basic account should have the facility to exchange L$ to other currencies (remember there are an increasing number of us outside the US) even if this facility is relativly restricted.

You've been here since last October and they still won't give you a Lindex limit? That's crazy!

At least, as Lindal says, there's slexchange.com (without it I do have to wonder how Second Life would survive!) Join up and sell your lindens for dollars, and then use the dollars - it's pretty straightforward. I joined yesterday, and they had my account approved in 8 or 10 hours overnight, and I was able to spend $100 straight away this morning, no messing.

It's also therapeutic against withdrawal symptoms to go shopping on slexchange while this darned update grinds on, and the whole grid is down.

I Know about SLExchange (If you look you will see I have posted there) ... It just seems silly to use SLExchange to sell L$ then transfer the US$ via an external agancy to LL ... not to mention the fact that it is not a free move ...

LL did review my account and gave me a non zero limit :).
