I have a great idea for those physics experiments that cause alot of issues. How about a object material named "Greese or Oil" basically an object would have no friction but still remain a solid, as liquid objects are most likely impossable, but that would be cool too.

as long as we're asking for new materials in the edit tool i'd like to humbly request "gas" "liquid" and "flesh".

I'd just love to be able to adjust an object's friction coefficient with a script command.
Or better yet, add a new tab to the edit menu with a slew of checkboxes and fields for all the status flags and property values. It's silly to have to add a script to an object just to set it phantom. We should only need the script access when we want the states to change.

Ooo ooo ooo so then there could be things like ice, right? Heh... it'd be fun to slip and slide all over a snowy terrain. Or maybe even make a frozen pond for ice skating. That kinda thing!

Glass has the least friction. There is already a flesh material. I think we should have custom materials where we can edit every single property which makes somthing a "material". They're doing it in HL2 (because it's the same fricken engine) and they feel all special for it. We should be just as special. Seriously, SL could take HL2 any day, if we just had enough customization

I didn't notice, but did we did a non-light, self illuminated material in the 1.1 test?

From: someone Originally posted by Jericho Powers I didn't notice, but did we did a non-light, self illuminated material in the 1.1 test? I didn't notice one Jericho. My fingers are crossed that we'll get this eventually! Also, along similar lines... it sure would be nice if you could set intensity and falloff distance for lights instead of having it directly related to prim size and tint color.

Honestly I was surprised you couldnt set the density and friction components of objects in SL (besides the small number of pre-sets) when I first got here. It just seems like a natural thing to me... material properties sliders wouldnt be half as powerful as what we already have.... I dont see why this would be a problem.

I'd like a material "Energy"
I have a shield that appears as part of my Laboratory, and that shield is effectively 'energy' but it actually exists phyiscally. I think it's currently made out of light, though I don't know the physical properties of the "Light" material.
Anyway I'm worried the shield would activate, and then suddenly my lab is much heavier and starts to decend.
The Energy material would have 0 friction, 0 mass, but it would still be a collideable object.
