Stretchable texture tool

I would love a tool that when the texture on a face of a prim is chosen, would allow for you to 'stretch' it. It would be similar to the stretch option for prims, but affecting just the chosen faces texture.

I think that's what "Align" does in 1.6. Other than being handy for movies. ;)

Also, you could just set the prim's texture scale to 1 x 1 and produce the same effect, yeah?

Honestly, I want the obtion to shut off texture stretching in relation to a prim's scale, simply because it causes problems at odd angles. :o

I havent been able to play around much in 1.6, as it crashes everytime I try to login.

You could scale the texture in proportion with the prim when you stretch it, but I would like to have the ability to stretch the texture without having to stretch the prim.

Think I see where you're getting here. And yes. I would *love* to see texturing separated from prim scaling. I could also see this as being done at the backend, but it would take a while and likely require LL to run a conversion algorithm on every prim in the world to convert to new texture coordinate data.

Which could be done, ironically. :p

Followup: Currently, textures are scaled relative to the face on the prim (for example, 1 x 1 is the entire face). It would actually be nice to make them completely relative so they don't skew when rotated, as they do now. I think that's what Juro is asking for.

I think by "tool", Juro means a UI widget for stretching the texture on a face. I've wanted the same thing myself! Something like ctrl-shift-alt-hyper-t, then drag some handles around to stretch and rotate the texture.

Juro, is something like this what you want? I think you and I may be thinking along the same lines in this area, and it would be great to be able to edit textures "by sight" rather than just "by the numbers".
