/me adds a suggestion to allow mainland people access to Top Scripts on their land. From: someone SVC-835: Allow "Top Scripts on Parcel" for mainland land owners
Suggestion to allow mainland land owners the ability to find scripts that are misbehaving on their land and for script writers to be able to get performance measurements without needing to be an estate manager. Check out http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-835 and vote please!

/me pokes this suggestion to give it a bump. Please vote for http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-835 ! With LL reporting region performance metrics (TY, Meta!) and LL performance bots TPing around to see how things are behaving, it seems to me that sim performance issues are something that they're aware of and looking at. It'd be great if they enabled residents to police their own land, too.

Actually if they are going to be messing with this, I think it needs a lot more work, such as showing scripts on avatars, breaking out statistics per avatar, etc. A good number of these types of issues are in fact caused by attachemnts worn by avatars, which are very hard to find currently.
I assume your suggestion would mean people could see top scripts for their parcel only? I think it could be a bit of a privacy issue if you could see what your neighbors have running on their land. In any event I think estates could use this too, so parcel renters can self police their script usage.

Yes, I was actually sorta thinking that the sim code wouldn't need to change much and that they'd just (and I say "just" not having any idea how it works underneath) filter the results that got sent back to the viewer - anything not on land you own (or group land where you're an Owner of the group) would get removed from the list. If Top Scripts only returns the top 30 things on a sim and your parcel doesn't have anything in the top 30, you get nothing.
I agree 100% that having more details in Top Scripts would make it even more useful but I'll take what I can get which is now, being a mainland dweller, very close to nothing.

In fact the estate tools already allow you to get Top Scripts for single parcels--it's just not supported by the LL viewer So that's even less work than you may have thought.

From: Darien Caldwell interesting. I wonder why this isn't in the main viewer. Possibly just because they would have had to add yet another tab to the parcel floater. That or the message may be able to deal with a parcel id but the sim code doesn't really support it.. I may try to visit an office hour and sell this issue to some cornered Linden.. Anybody have an idea on who would be best to harrass about it??

I'm trying to get it to work right now and failing--It still returns results from the whole sim. There's a RequestFlags parameter that's not documented at all so I haven't given up yet, but you're right, it could be a work in progress. Sidewinder Linden recently said he's going to be working on an estate tools project.

I would join in. I didn't get to really bring it up - there's an agenda and I wasn't on it. I did mention it at the very end and some of the residents said it sounded like a great idea but the Lindens there (who were all in the process of leaving) didn't respond. A friend stumbled across Blue Linden at his office and stuffed it into the conversation there.. Blue said it was an interesting idea. Please feel free to mention it to anybody who support it..

Blue is part of the volunteer team though so I doubt he could do more than just pass it along, if that. Andrew and Zero might make a good fit from a technical point of view, otherwise Robin or Torley if you can get a word in at their office hours.

Shouldn't I have the ability to see if my neighbor that might be temp rezzing a 200+ skyhouse using over 5 temp rezzor units on a 512 sq/m parcel might be affecting the entire sim?

I'm not sure Top Scripts would show that, even if it did show people sim-wide info. I think there are arguments both for and against having it return stats for the entire sim. Personally, I wouldn't mind if a neighbor said "hey, looks like you've got a script freaking out over there" but I live in a very friendly neighborhood. If it was less friendly, I could see evil neighbors constantly ARing me for having the most expensive script, even if it wasn't overly expensive.

I think that would be blatantly obvious, even without top scripts. Temp Rezzers should be banned IMHO.

I would definately want to know if one of my scripts is affecting the rest of the sim.
