I would like to see more control on which face or faces of a prim that can be hollowed. Hollow on each axis would be ideal.
For example, if I want a hollow curved wall, I make a cylinder, then path cut it, then make it hollow (95%), but if I also want that wall to be hollow, I can not do it.

This would so rock. No more flipping prims over sideways just to make a window, and losing track of its x/y/z orientation.

Until we get that, this script tool might help you reorient the hollow of a box prim while retaining its shape.

It would also be nice to be able to change the proportions of the hollow shape - so that you could have a square face with a thin non-square hollow, or a thin non-square rectangular face with a square hollow, for example.
Also be nice to be able to offset the center of the hollow from the center of the object.
Might as well throw in being able to tilt the hollow.

And while you're at it, square up the cut surfaces so they can sit flush against other prims, and not have to be sunk in.

Won't happen.
All prims in SL are created by moving a two dimensional shape (profile) along a three dimensional path.
The hollow is created by changing the profile of the shape. Hollows not along the path won't happen.
But hollows tapered independantly of the profile are an interesting idea.
Also, using 'twist' to change the path instead of rotating the profile, to allow you to create permanently bent flexi-style shapes, would be interesting.
