I find it very difficult to find legitimate events going on, with all of the ads for "sales" and such cluttering up the event listing. What does everyone else think about this?

Well, it's already against the event posting rules to list anything other than "grand openings, demonstrations, product launches etc." in the commercial events listing. Some of the events you see listed do fall under these categories. Others don't. It's not enforced very well.

If you are looking for specific types of events, try selecting one of the other categories in search. Or you could file abuse reports against people who you think are abusing the system. But LL is quite slow on responding to most AR's.
