The person who was have problems playing at an internet caffee got me thinking...

I think LL should try to get advertising in wifi hotspots like Starbucks. The new $10 accnt's would be a perfect way to enjoy a coffee, and for starbucks, people will buy more coffee and they have another reason to encourage customers to purchases wifi time.

For the internet caffee's, strike a deal where they pre-install it and configure the auto-update feature to work. The addictive nature of SL means they sell a lot more PC time. And for LL it means more users, and the ones who already play at an internet caffee don't have problems when patches are released. They could even convince the caffee owners to sell accounts for $5 and chip in $5 because it's a one time fee that will draw a lot more $ in PC time over time.

Maybe SL is just too complicated due to 1000's of sliders when you first start, or maybe it's not being able to buy land and start building in 5 minutes like back in the old days...

But some people are making lots of money leveraging wifi from Starbucks.

As long as it's easy to use, people will fork over $ while they have their morning coffee.

..i know there will be an "angry mob" mentality about this idea, but here it is anyway..

..create commercial Sim islands for this very purpose. we could have an island sim called Starbucks, and others named in a similar (or more generalized) fashion.
then customers can sign in from Starbucks/etc.. and there could be default AVs all ready to use.. a sandbox to play in.. choice to pay Starbucks/etc.. for a persistent account, which would include a 512m2 plot.. etc..etc..etc..

everyone makes money, more players join..

umm..

lol... You got that right... No no no! LL isn't allowed to make money and promote our prestine metaverse if it means having anything to do with RL businesses in world... Sheesh... Man am I asking for it.

I think Jack's idea on this one is gold. Any place there is a computer with an internet connection that attracts more than 25 people a day should be chased down. We really need to get some young newbie blood into the game. Toss it up for us who are getting bored of the same old crowds, and let LL get a bit more money into their pockets to help SL expand and grow! And besides, this would be a place where the common Joe that has no clue about the small locomotive called LL who says it can, exists!

Side note, I have torches and pitchforks already made and sitting in my inventory for those that are interisted... never know when you'll need to whip those out and chase a Linden or two down the highway.

Nah this is idea is crap. SL is too complicated and to hard to play with all the land barrons for someone with 15 minutes to waste to enjoy the experience. SL is more for someone who has 8 hours to waste in a day.

But Microsoft should put xbox's with headphones in every starbucks.
