I dont know if this is possiable or not, but I have been talking with alot of people and everyone so far everyone has agreed with me. I Want to see if we could get rausch and jessie and put them together and disconnect them from the mainland. Make us our own little area sorta like cayman or umber. Im sure it would make alot of people happy and cut down on some of these missles and bullets going onto other peoples land. I know you can add in the script to where an object goes away when it hits a sim boundry but on some of the weapons that would defeat the purpose of it. All the people in jessie would love for this to happen, also it would keep people from just wondering in getting killed then bitching about it. This happens alot. So maybe this will work if not it was worth a try.

Yes, please, Lindens! Having Rausch and Jessie attached to the mainland is annoying for everyone concerned.

If they were relocated off the mainland, It'd be faster for gamers in Rausch and Jessie and faster for residents in the non-combat sims on the mainland. Best of all, there'd be an end to all those stupid flamewars over bullets getting lobbed into neighbouring sims.

It would also settle the "suburban sprawl" problem that the original outlands faced, and that Jessie sporadically suffers from these days. Back in the old days, the whole point of Clyde having a wall and a wide open expanse of land on either side was to make it obvious that it was a buffer zone. With land at a premium, I'm certainly not going to advocate putting up an entire new sim just to act as a buffer region, though.

Starting a seperate damage-enabled continent is the best option, in my opinion.

I agree the battle sim(s) should be its/their own continent. It solves several issues.

I endorse this idea/suggestion.

If the people of the outlands demand it, do it. :)

Well, technically, Jessie hasn't always been there -- it was originally one sim west of where it is today, prior to its being turned from a mainland-based mirror of the Prelude sims (then called Eden) into a damage-enabled combat sim. But you're right, it's been there quite a while. Any change of location should take into account the desires of its current residents.

(In the past, I've suggested an enhanced groups system for coordinating this sort of thing, holding votes and so on, as well as making all landowners in a sim automatic members of a group for that sim -- obviously, doing away with the 10 group limit would be necessary.)

Wow, so Jessie was once a peaceful paradise named Eden? That's so...er...Biblical.

Actually, Jessie was 2 spaces over from where it is now, in the corner made by Taber, Clementina, and Welsh. It was an exact copy of the Prelude/Eden sim(s), so the old beta people who didn't get to go through Prelude could see it.

I remember it because one day I had complete ocean view from my little isle in southern Welsh, and then the next day, I had ocean view with idyllic island in the middle. Not a bad change :-)

YES!

Oh btw, while on this subject, also add 2 more battle sims to make it a perfect square:)

Or, just remove jessie completlyand move rausch out away from the mainland, as well as adding 3 new combat sandboxes:)

Ryen, I'm trying desperately not to make this look like flamebait, but as one of the more frequent forum posters who are keen on combat, I was hoping you could answer a question.

Is SL actually a satisfying combat experience compared to all of the myriad other MMOFPSs out there? I imagine so, or you'd probably be there instead of here. So perhaps I should rephrase: given the comparatively low FPS in SL compared to say UnrealTournament 200x, what does attract you to SL for combat? I can only imagine that it is the ability to construct your own weapons, but would love to hear what the draw is for you.

Incidentally, I've played FPSs, I'm lousy. I'm no better at combat in SL and utterly respect and support your desire to make a better battle zone.

Well, To each his own i guess. I am a serious Combat FPS player online. I love those games. But I NEVER play combat in SL because its just ridiculous. you dont shoot eachother anymore. it all My script can kick your scripts arse and well my script kills you by name when you enter the sim type stuff there. and thats just plain boring to me. BUT.. The Opfor guys + Others seem to have fun in there even though i dont so I cant say the sims dont have appeal. I think moving them together would make it all the more interesting for many people. For example. I Could die entering any of the 2 sims now, even when the sims are empty! :P

Yes. No other game can you make your own battle how you want it. The only other game i can think of that actually gives me as much satisifaction is command and conquer generals, nothing more satisifying than nuking some military compound or launching an anthrax filled scud storm. SL's combat system is like no other around thats why I enjoy it so much.

I dont make it a habit, I go to jessie/rausch once in a while, pop some caps, and go back to building :) Its just a diversion.
