Improve the LSL Camera functions!

Currently, llSetCameraAtOffset and llSetCameraEyeOffset are the two working camera functions. They only trigger when sitting on an object -- if the values change, the avatar must stand up and sit back down again. This is fine for vehicles, but really annoying for machinima.

With the addition of custom animations in 1.4, SL gains an incredible advantage over other machinima engines. The camera still sucks though.

I want to be able to have a script change the camera angle and position in realtime, as well as change FOV.

If that was the intent behind llTakeCamera and llReleaseCamera, please, consider finishing them! There's a specific project I'm thinking of for this, and having finished camera functions would really help me out as well as potentially revive interest in making movies in SL.

I would like to be able to view a persons face in the IM window. Sort of like a virtual webcam where we can see the avatar's head, and it would smile when they typed a smiley, etc.

I agree, I have a project that could make good use of llReleaseCamera and llTakeCamera, I would really like these to be usable soon.

Also i'm all for more camera controlls also if you can think of any other good ones.

Edit: Good suggestion Eggy, I like that idea, would be cool to see, but I imagine would be complicated since you'd need to render the "headshot" area around the avatar, and people could give you bunny ears. :D

Yeah, I'd like to be able to bind the camera to small RC cars, to provide high-speed racing within a small area (< sim).
