Instead of "x rated you."

How about:

x rated you (+1/+1/0)
x rated you (0/0/+1)
x rated you (-1/0/0)
x rated you (+1/+1/+1)

Take the guess work out!

Back in the early beta, when there was only a behavior rating, it would say "So and So rated you positive!" or "So and So rated you negative!". I didn't really like this, because, I didn't want people knowing what I rated them. What if I have a good friend, who I really like, and I rate their scripting ability negative, because they can't script? They will get angry at me, won't they? I dunno, I just like it the way it is..

I agree with James in this instance. The ambiguity serves as a buffer that is needed.

How about a way to change your ration on people. Lets say someone is bad at building and you rate them negative and later on they become really good, or you rate someones behavior negative cause they did something stupid but you find out they are really nice later on. And you won't have to pay for the changes since you have already payed for it. but you can't take the rating back altogether.

TBH, I'd rather rate anonymously, i.e. get rid of the messages completely, or just have 'You have been rated' so at least you know it's changed.

I don't get the whole anonymity need. I mean, if you're going to rate someone, you should have a reason to do so. If your reason for doing so is sound, there should be no need to hide it, right?

hmmm, well...
  1. I don't want anyone to feel they have to rate me just coz I rated them
  2. ... which leads to killing one of the ways to rate mine
  3. neg rates are pretty useless at the moment, as you just get one back in return (or if you're really lucky, get 3 neg rates from all their friends too)
  4. I'm kinda shy ;)

you can? i didn't know that lol.

Well anyway, ratings don't mean squat to me, its just interesting to see who has the most of something. Like just cause i'm at the top of the appearance board don't mean i'm the best looking av on SL. It doesn't mean i'm the most popular either. And i think we should rid of the leader board that shows who has the most money, cause a lot of people really don't want others to know they are super rich.

Free to rate once, $1 to change.
