Of all the features that put an unnecessarily high load on the database servers, Search All has to rank rather high.

It doesn't provide any information that can not easily be gotten from searching the different tabs individually so it's really redundant, and at best people use it as a combination for Classifieds and Places, while it will needlessly search Events, Land Sales, People and Groups as well.

We got along fine before they had it.

I didnt even notice it was there for a long time.

Ill agree with this suggestion. Good idea.

I think People search in Search All very distracting as well. One could want to see place, event, classified, and probably related groups all at once, but what use is searching People along with that?

I agree here too, at worst we should have checkbox where you choose what to search so people choose only the two or three that they're interested in.

Was there a time when SL didn't have it? It's always been there since I joined, and it's what I primarily use. I don't necessarily think I want to have to do a search 4-5 times in different tabs to find all the occurrences of a particular keyword. I have to wonder which would cause more load, 1 ALL search, or 4-5 sub searches...

Yes I think so , I think it was added with classifieds. I could be wrong though.

It's always been there I think, but when they added classifieds they moved it over to the left where people would see it more easily. Thus people started using it.
