What about an /follow name command. would be cool if i could auto follow my friends. when they walk around.

This would be pretty useful for helping people, or just generally to keep up. But if it were an official feature it would have to ask the other person by default for their permission.

It is currently possible to do this to an extent, but would be easier client-side since you can simply mimic the movements of the other person, flying when they fly, jumping when they jump etc.

Would be a lot of work to do well though, might be an interesting feature for an open source developer to do.

Are you talking about with the camera? Hold down the alt button and click on them. If you disable camera constraints you don't even need to be nearby.

Scripted followers do exist, I have one in my inventory. It's keyed to me from the resident I am scripted to 'follow' when I'm wearing it.

Non-keyed followers? Not sure how that would work, not sure I'd want it - could make people open to all kinds of stalking activity...

I'm not sure there's much risk of stalking, it's perfectly possible to do now, and just as easy to avoid by simply teleporting somewhere (no way for other users to know where you went to).

exactly.. And of course not just a basic follow. This should also just be allowed if the the target agrees to it. But in many way it would make it more easy if you go explore with a bunch and just simple all could follow the leader. This way there is no every time, oops where u went, or wait of me, or im lost :)
