Offline Building

In a future version of the client it would be nice to see an offline building tool which uses the standard SL building equipment to allow users to have a lag free, conveniant area to build. when the user connects to the SL servers builds can be uploaded to their inventory (free build uploas but still L$10 texture uploads). Becasue it does not require and server space at Linden Labs to build offline (and only the user's current allocated inventory space to upload to) the build space could potentially be as big as the users computer can handle and should be available for free.

That would be awesome!

I think that it is convenient to build offline due to the fact that alot of places where you do go to build are lagged and its just a pain to get stuff done. Also, you dont have to worry about people building stuff that mixes with yours.

Making this a different application would also work, use your own pc's resources to store whatever you build and then upload it to SL (Online) when you are done modelling. then pay the L$10 to texture it and do whatever else you need to do.

I spose it could be the same kind of style as like Avimator or Poser but for building instead.

Pwa pwa pwaaa... Still, this feature has been propeosed many times, as it would be one of the greatest things for SL, and also what led to the creation of CopyBot... It would render sandboxes obsolete and allow building things with greater precision!

That would be the fault of the forum search URLs, not me.

Try the search yourself, I clicked it, set it to Feature Suggestion Forums, and "offline building."

I reckon that would be a good thing tho, because most sandboxes are filled with crap these days and the dis-respect of people just coming and building straight over the top of what you are working on gets rather annoying.

I still think that it is something that linden labs shood look at. and base the building software the same as SL software, so if people choose to build offline, its the same tools, the same layout and generally easier for the SL population who do choose to build offline.
