I just want to put out a couple of ideas in my head about when the Lindens are ready to add more land to the existing grid.
First of all, while I love the space that the six new sims (well, 5, if you don't count Jessie) offers, it is frustrating that there isn't a drop of land available for general consumption. I do recognize what the Lindens are doing is a good thing, like with the themed communities and the sports sim - I just hope this is not how they are going to do things from here on out.
Land for general consumption in the 20 "public use" sims is dwindling day by day, and it's virtually impossible to buy up a large, contiguous parcel any more for any kind of major project. I would like to see a number of public-use sims added to the existing grid in a north-south fashion, to complete the "island" that was begun with the original grid.
Another thing, when age controls are finally put into effect, I think they really need to create a wholly seperate island that is rated "Mature," rather than the mixed-in Mature zones we have now. With this new adult-only island, the main grid should just be all PG, so that everyone can adjust their behavior accordingly, instead of having PG / M areas mixed up like they are now. After go-live time, I think the adult-only area could support its own Outlands as well, and then the two seperate islands could expand independently of each other, depending on demand.

On this note, when new sims are added, are they added quietly intentionally? In some ways it is cool happening upon new land. "Whoa! That didnt use to be there!!" and in other ways it feels like "hey no one mentioned this".....
I'm obvioulsy on the fence about this but I was wondering if that was the plans, to add new sims without mention.
Another question is regarding Linden held land on older sims. Will more be released? And regarding the newer sims I too am wondering when land will be made available to the public.
(oh man that was a dis jointed ramble.. sorry about that. heh)

Interesting thoughts. What Linden-owned land would you like to see released? We hope to release a bunch of land from inactive accounts in the near future. I'd love to hear from all about what they would like to see in future sims - wide open or set up themes or zoning?

Hey Haney, thanks for replying... There's a lot of Linden land in Clara that could stand to be released, such as the lake south of the Boardwalk (where we want to build our monorail. ) As for the new sims, I think it should be done 3 ways, so that everyone gets what they want... 1/3 for new themed communities, 1/3 zoned areas (with Linden-owned land, etc), and 1/3 wide-open 100% public consumption. I'm still wishing for that Elite Sim, where all land costs 10* and has to be bought in 16*16 parcels and public land defaults to no build. I had thought it was mentioned that some of the Linden ownded land (there is a lot, by Govener Linden and others) would be released soon. Also I had thought that after a short time for the themes to get going, more land on those servers would open up, excluding a buffer around the themed areas.

There's a bunch owned by JohnG Linden out in Hawthorne also.
I wonder, if people would like to use up a plot of land that's owned by a Linden and has been sitting there doing nothing for a while, could we make personal requests somehow to have it freed up if we have legit plans for the land ourselves?

From: someone Originally posted by Josh Starseeker As for the new sims, I think it should be done 3 ways, so that everyone gets what they want... 1/3 for new themed communities, 1/3 zoned areas (with Linden-owned land, etc), and 1/3 wide-open 100% public consumption. if i'm not mistaken, the purpose of adding some of these new sims is to allow the themed communities to exist in peace, without (for example) me having to look over my pagoda in the ancient oriental community of Shangri-La, and find that someone has bought land a few meters off the back of the community and built a large flashing neon tower. it kinda interferes with the atmosphere, ya know? thus said, i do think it would be neat if the monorail could, at a later date, have a "Tour" track that runs between all the themed communities, and i'm sure arrangements could be made with the Lindens to purchase a small segment of the lands currently owned by Governor Linden to install the monorail track.
