See a review of it here: http://www.ogleearth.com/2006/11/3dconnexions_sp.html It would be a major boon if Second Life would wind up on the supported applications list: http://www.3dconnexion.com/solutions/cad/2aa.php Rock on. |

As a designer, I use the original Spaceball all the time with dramatic improvements in productivity. Another point to note is that older used Spaceballs can be bought on Ebay for $10 US and up. A much cheaper option than the $500 for a new one. Just be sure you have a spare serial port to plug it into. |

They are wonderful in the apps that support these 3D mice but they have no generic driver to make it actually useful, especially in Second Life!! My boss and I have looked through their forums and found that they seem to not be interested in writing a generic driver for it, maintaining that everyone should integrate support into their apps one at a time. I find this position ridiculous and am begging for you guys at Linden Labs to please support these devices! I would rather not waste your time with this since they should've written the basic driver but until they do, please integrate this! It won't take too much time. There are so many people who would use these things in SL. It could be a boon for both companies and the users! Eric O. 3D Designer SLS, LLC |
