Search based upon picks! Bye bye to bots, increase economy, less traffic, etc...

Okay enough is enough, people always fight with their products in secondlife to be the first in SL. How you become first? Place a bot to create fake traffic.... WICH IS SO WRONG. If google should work like that then we would be getting penis enlargement adds and other spam advertising as the first best link result... wich is wrong. Google doesnt work like secondlife in the way that they base on traffic numbers. They rather base on links, picks by other websites that is. Google works by detecting links to and from other sites. They see for example that lots of blogs use secondlife.com link for example and place the link of secondlife.com first when searching for "secondlife".

So my answer is:

- Linden Labs base the search on PICKS! Why? Because then we can see that it are real people, based upon their favorites, in other words, blog links. The only catch is that the signup procedure has to be more tougher (captcha, email verification, etc...)
So again, let the search be based on PICKS. That way the fake traffic will go down, people stop using bots, secondlife has more real life traffic numbers, not fake and will make it more fair towards anyone!

I hope to get some responses from Linden Labs and other users as i think this will solve the search problems a lot and make the economy of SecondLife better towards the future. Please do discuss my idea.

Search is not about traffic, search is about people's favorites or picks. This is just an idea, what do you think?

Your idea sounds cool since it would be the same as RL, often you find that little cool store cause you heard it from someone, Picks are intended to be the same as 'mouth to mouth'.

But....

Few ways to also manipulate that way:

"Get payed to put this place in your picks"

Also people would simply place their location in the picks of Bots, since they are normal account, just running on a lighter program.

If they were going to do that they would have by now. the hole point of traffic is keeping record of how many people enter... People dont even hardly go by the traffic anyways they go by the top classfied ads and the first page list of the classfieds traffic is just a bounus im sure the picks even add up with the traffic as well or how many landmarks are in peoples inventory

yes, already -mostly- i guess, search is based on profile picks, but still has some input from traffic...

yes, both are game-able. :\

but, it would be nice if the lab would eliminate traffic entirely from search rankings, as that is the more easily game-able thing. profile picks have to be done by hand, so it'd be nice at least to have that much more discouragement and footwork for those wish to game their search results.
