I'm aware that this may be the wrong section to post this, or that this may be impossible to do, but I was wondering if it would be possible if I could change my account's first name?
If so, would I lose my entire inventory, or would it be as simple as my name being changed to something else?

The short answer is NO. LL won't allow you to change your name in most cases. The exception being, if your name is offensive or violates the TOS is some way and LL gets an AR on it, they MAY make you change it. Also there have been instances where residents have paid a fee and been granted name changes, but I don't know how much.
