I would like to be able to turn off the rendering of other peoples objects outside my parcel. While my neighbors may be proud of their giant Audio/Video cabinets that are doubling as apartments, it would be nice if i didn't have to look at them from my own plot. Imagine you could at least have the illusion that you had your own little piece of the world.

Ability to disable rendering of all attachments on other avatars would be nice also. So Tringo would never be so laggy again. At least a debug option.

I found this post after a similar idea occurred to me, and I decided to check if it had already been suggested, and am surprised that it's had so little feedback.

How many people have had a rotating billboard, or ugly build suddenly appear right on the boundary of their parcel, ruining the view, and not a thing you can do about it?

Or do you live next door to some derelict land where the owner hasn't turned on object return, is unreachable, and the land is now full of unsightly random junk, possibly even over hanging your land?

If it's technically feasible, and practical, to have the option to only render objects on your parcel, (and I don't know if it is), then not only would this make SL a less ugly place, it would maybe reduce some forms of lag too?

If the option were available I would use it.
