SL Offline Client Packaged for Sale

I propose that LL package a separate, offline client as a product to compliment SL. Call it SL Gold, available anywhere you'd buy software, offering the ability to simulate owning anywhere from 512m to several sims (whatever the hardware limitations of the user) with variable toolsets and terraform limits to match (mainland vs. Estate Owner). Some optional features may require limited grid connectivity (for instance, asset-server access for certain scripting functions or items with limited permissions) or syncing with online items, avatars, or locations. An Orientation Island and some content would be included, along with tutorials and documentation, perhaps including updateable stored versions of some secondlife.com content.

For LL, SL Gold would be both an income stream and a marketing tool, providing not only the sale price, but also upload fees and incentive for residents to acquire or increase tier in order to share offline creations.

For users, SL Gold would answer three longstanding needs: an offline build editor, content back-up, and true ownership. Even should SL cease to exist or change beyond recognition, users would have access to as much properly permissioned content as they're willing to store for as long as they're willing to store it.

I've read this proposal as well as the prim-editor project thread, and hesitate to start yet another topic that may split votes from these two, but my idea seems distinct from both, seems to answer both, and is only LL-actionable, not user-actionable.

Vote here.
