Now that you can email an IM i suggest adding a IM Online User to the website.

This could be implimented from the Friends Online option where it shows you people online from your calling cards.
Add an option to IM user, then they could respond to your IM and it would go to your email.

That way you could send a message without getting a message first and without knowing the avatar key.

Not spam. Of course you'd have to log in to the website to identify yourself before sending IMs anyway, which reuires a valid SL account. So any potential spammer is subject to the same rules and restrictions that apply in-world.

Re: Spam

Not to mention you need a valid account to authenticate, my suggested method was using the Friends Online feature (which only lists people you have calling cards for).

So to spam people you would need to create a new account, go around and gather up calling cards, then spam all the people you have cards for (having your account shut off rather quickly).

That would have to be the least efficient and most expensive method of spamming known. :)

Sigh.. I was just wanting to initiate a message to someone in-world while I'm at work, and am reminded about this feature request...
