I blame no one but my tired self for this but........

Ever spent hours upon hours on a project and forget to save copies as you work. Then to add to the trouble forget that its 4am?????

I wasted 5 hours of script debugging on my recent project that has taken me 6 days so far to do and still not done yet.
It's composed of 7 scripts and over 1100 lines of total combined code.

I was debugging it and almost done and POOF!!!!
Just as I was getting ready to save to inventory!!!!

Talk about annoying to the point of uninstalling SL.

But in my pissed off state of mind I thought of a feature suggestion:

any one of or combo of these are NEEDED:

1) A warning 10 mins. b4 server wipe to those in the sandbox.

2) objects deleted by script or sandbox wipe no longer go poof forever, SEND them to our TRASH! plz.

3) A new call related to #2...llSendToTrash()

llSendToTrash could have these options:

1) on delete
2) upon being called (similar to llDie but sends to trash)
3) do send to trash (TRUE/FALSE)

it's pretty unbelievable this stuff doesn't exist. i had no idea this happened every single night and i would have lost an entire house if somebody didn't warn me about five minutes til 4:00. i think it was Sinclair Valen. thanks! :)

and why is there no gametime clock on the interface?

Well, it's a sandbox sim, that's what the sandbox sim does, there're signs all over the place.

That said, Charlie's suggestion #1 would solve the problem.

I never knew what time the sandbox gets wiped (it's not posted anywhere that I know of) but I've never had it happen to me because I've never been on at 7am local time (4am PST).

I think that if the player is still there, that their objects shouldn't be deleted.

Barring that, warnings, or sending the objects to their owner's trash would be best.

You could script up a watch for that.

Heh, I might put in a warning system myself.

Does Olive ALWAYS clear at 4 am?

How you going to do that Relee, shoot something in from another sim shouting the announcement? hehe (can't just leave it, it'll get deleted!) If you do, make it something entertaining, lol.

A PST clock does sound like an awesome idea for us lazy easterners and Europeans. Fantastic, even.

And everyone knows more inventory/trash management functionality is needed, heh. DEFINITELY the type of stuff to lobby for with v1.2.

I would like to see a bigger sandbox. If they can make a six section raceway, why not a 2 or 4 section sandbox?
I finding that people are creating huge builds or things that go all over, so there is less room to create without being on top of someone else or their builds. :(

Camille if you don't need a huge amount of space try building on top of the cliffs surrounding the sandbox. they're still in olive but nobody goes up there. or find some quiet Linden owned lakebed like in Lime :)

"Do you think that's gravity you're feeling?"

There's no reason you can't build high up in the air in the sandbox too. That can actually be pretty handy at times, anyway. I'll often create a simple cube, drag it up to altitude, then rez my work in progress on it.

Stay below the avatar fall height, and you shouldn't have any problem. And if you have a good flight system, you can go even higher. ;)

Actually that's exactly what I was thinking. I could make it fly into Olive every day after Olive has been cleared, assuming it always happens at the same time of day it could warn people ten minutes before hand, and a few times more before it's toast. when it's gone, a new one flies in.

So...how consistent is the timing for Olive wipe?

Gonna use something cool like a flying hippo or a Wizard of Oz monkey to do the announcement? lol..

I was actually thinking of using a giant clock and some sirens.

But nobody has told me how consistent it is yet.
