Can I have an example of how this would be used?

I get what it is, but how would it work exactly?

You mean I would not have to build things in a pit to avoid selecting everybody else's stuff for miles!? Wow, yes, good stuff!!

I still don't get how this would work, and no ones explaining it. :P

I guess I don't really get the point of it since you can't edit other peoples stuff you select anyway. The only case I can see it as being usefull is if you have to drag and select something and someone elses thing is also in your selection path.

Precisely, Oz

You build something. You wanna link it. It'd be kinda nice to drag a selection around it and know that you got only your build, and not the neighbors walls, some random trees 50m away and a passing sailing boat into the bargain.

When you drag and select it selects EVERYTHING... yours or not, whether you can edit it or not. And then of course tells you you don't have permission to link the parts. Which is why most of us resort to frantic clicking of all the pieces individually with shift held down, then linking it.... moving it a bit to check... realising you dont have it all.... Ctrl+Z'ing it back to position for another round of clicking to select parts... linking... moving to... ok. well you get the idea.

I wholly endorse this product and/or service. :)

Ok, I'll endorse it. :D

Just wanted to understand what exactly it was before saying anything.

Normally I write long descriptions of how and whyfore, but i figured no one ever reads all that so I kept it short.

But the plea came after trying to pocket a huge build (big enough that it can't be linked) that was in the sandbox, only to find that there were dozens of invisible bullets scattered about the area, as well as other random physics flotsam and the like.

I had to just select everything and start dragging it upwards. I got a spew of error messages, but only my stuff moved. Eventually I had it high enough up that I could get a clean selection.

I don't know HOW many times I've wished for this, but for some reason never posted it here, so I'll re-itterate:
CODE
          PPPP L EEEEE A SSS EEEEE !! !! !!
P P L E A A S E !! !! !!
PPPP L EEE AAAAA SSS EEE !! !! !!
P L E A A S E
P LLLLL EEEEE A A SSS EEEEE !! !! !!

god that would be great, I don't know how many times I've had to individually select 50 or more prims and move them around to see if I forgot anything :/

I support this product and/or service.

That way I wouldn't have to move bag'n'baggage to some empty patch to do building.
