There is a system for day passes, where you have to pay to enter parcels, already in existence. The thing where you get green ban lines. It's not used much, but maybe it would be useful if it was possible to see a list of parcels that make use of this feature.

Perhaps it should be possible for these rentable parcels to be added to a parcels for rent tab in the search dialog.

Might also be nice to be able to buy the pass right from the search also, this would allow those with pay to access land buil away from the ground.

Buying a pass is a bit clunky right now anyway would be nice as soon as you tried to enter a blue pop up came up and asked ot you buy the pass, instead of having to click on the parcel.

You cant charge for access on a second floor or sky build because it requires you to click on the ground. Some new system should be considered.

I can't test this out conveniently since there's no way to find places that use the "pay for access" feature other to fly around at random, but I think you might be able to doubleclick on the sim and parcel name at the top of the screen. Is that right or not?

There's been many a time when I've wanted to test a feature that requires access to land and some land priveleges, such as ability to set the parcel video url or audio url, usually just for long enough to answer someone's question or verify that something that someone said is true. Since I don't own any land I just have to do without unless I can convince the one group I am in that own's land to give me more land priveleges than I currently have.

I can envision a system of renting parcels to folks that want to "have a house" but not for very long, in which you'd have a Rez-Foo or such device with several different house models stored in it. Folks would pay for parcel access and simultaneously be enabled to select the model house they want to appear.

With the land prices we have now some scheme that allows some form of time-sharing in some fashion might be a worthwhile goal.

Colette and Winter, what uses for daypass parcels make you support this idea?

I made a land pass "vendor" script for a friend, where you just click the prim and pay for the pass (the entire sim except for a small patch is access restricted and people were right-clicking the ground on that patch, instead of past the green lines) to make it easier. Buying a pass is definitely unintuitive right now and plenty of people were getting it wrong, or couldn't figure it out.

The pass there is used for its original purpose, access to an attraction/site (like a RL entry ticket); someone else I know is using it for access to a theater and her club.

With the elimination of dwell payments ect, it makes sense to the club business owner to charge admission to their attraction. The current system of hourly passes is not intuitive enough and would benefit from an overhaul. The 'cover charge' is something under utilized in the SL realm. I cant figure out how anybody makes money owning a dance club as a stand alone attraction. A few slot machines here and there? Many appear to be making their income renting vendor sites nearby.

This is so true, I've got a feature request for this posted right now http://secondlife.com/vote/vote.php?get_id=2899

Being able to distinguish pay-pass parcels right from search would be great, certainly saves you having to explain to angry patrons who didn't fully read descriptions or the parcel titles that blatantly advertise the fact that it is a "cover-charge" area, then top it off with the fact that the process for paying for a pass isn't user friendly for those who's builds completely cover a parcel, it's a strenuous situation for the venue owner and the patron as well
