Public/private forums available for groups/businesses on SLUniverse

If you are interested in having either a public or private forum for your group or business, they are available for free in the SLUniverse forums at http://forums.sluniverse.com . If you would like a forum, please contact me here or at [email]cristiano@sluniverse.com[/email] for more information.

This seems like it would be useful for outfits that have employees where there need to be rules about who does what and such matters.

Also if you want to talk about matters best kept from public view, like umm, that ... or that... that too.

In case anyone's forgotten, the group forums here at secondlife.com will be closing before long. There's not been that much use made of the group forums here, owing largely I suspect to not being to able to have them hidden from view or have posting limited to group members.

How does that stuff work at sluniverse, Cris? How does the group moderation system work there? Can you do check to see if people are actually in an SL group or would that be up to the person that got the group forum started?

For private forums, I have a tool I created to allow an administrator for that group forum (ie the person who requests the forum) to be able to grant access to specific users to that forum without any intervention from me. It is up to the group or business to determine who has access to what if the forum is private. Moderation is set up on a forum by forum basis, so I could designate one or more accounts to be able to moderate that forum, without being able to moderate anything else.
