New skin for 2008

My new years resolution for 2008 is to acquire a new skin (female). I'm confused by photorealistc v's drawn skins and even hybrid skins. I would like a collection of skins ranging from pale to dark tanned with a variety of makeup options. Can anybody help...all suggestions welcomed. xxx Denise

There are a lot of suggestions there, as well as link/s to other threads on the same subject.

My current favorites are from Naughty, although I've worn skins from Celestial Studios, Gala Phoenix and Canimal a lot in the past as well. Another good option, if you don't want to spend a lot yet, is a place called Another Shop. It has packs of skins in four tones from pale to dark, each pack has a lot of options included and is just L$100. Nicely done, too.

My advice would be to read the suggestions on the threads above, make some notes, and grab yourself a load of demo skins, then try them out and see which ones appeal to you. Most skin makers have free (or nearly so) demos, so you can take them home and take your time deciding. Good luck!

Speaking of Another Shop.. All the skins are now free with full permissions I think their really good skins..

I agree wholeheartedly with you there Rosee.......Eloh Eliot's skins have some of the prettiest make-ups I've seen in SL......it's hard to believe they're now free and full perms.....

'Avalon' has some really beautiful skins also...but unfortunately NOT FREE

Tete a Pied have very good hand drawn skins that have a range of lovely makeup options. I think these are sold at L$500 now - good value for quality skins IMO.

Also Launa Fauna now does a relatively new line called 'Chai' which look very good on the various blog pics, although I haven't tried them out myself.

My own fave range is still Gala so far - hard to beat for realisitic hand drawn detail and body shading. It took me weeks and weeks of trying all sorts before I settled on mine!
They have lots of makeups to choose from and there's a lower priced budget section there too.

Whichever ones you do try, get demos first and spend a little time in private tweaking the face until you get the best effect for each new 'brand'. They all differ, especially in facial details, and generally a new one won't necessarily suit your usual shape exactly - it helps to save a new shape to inventory for each separate make of skin you wear.
