"Taking snapshots from hiding"

Interesting. I have often wondered if people were in their "home" and someone were to "hide" and take snapshots of them by using alt + zoom and the camera controls, if they were breaching privacy. Apparently this is the case.

In RL, many folks have telescopes looking out from their high rise apartments, the difference is of course you cannot pan through the walls.

Thoughts?

I've never experienced an expectation of privacy in Second Life.

I found out something interesting the other day...

Someone told me how they caught their SL "spouse" cheating by using the debug menu options to remove the land and builds to see just the avies.

Would that be abuse then too by using tools that are available in game? Makes you wonder...

Me either, Khamon. And I'm one who has limited the access of others to her land -- partly as an attempt at protecting my own privacy.

In RL, people have been caught, arrested, and convicted for using mini-cams to take pictures up women's skirts in public places. In SL, such a practice is probably widespread (at least judging from the pics at slerotica.com), but I don't see a parallel with RL. It may not be the sign of a healthy mind but I can't tell you who it harms, either. If I'm worried about it I'll just wear pants

I guess LL at least attempts to regulate blatant spying on each other (especially if there's an AR) and that's probably a good thing.

Thats what I said...but there was other drama to go along with the whole story that I won't repeat. I just thought it was interesting you could do that and seeing this in the police blotter now really makes you wonder who LL is catering to with issuing a warning.

No, I don't advocate sneaky-ness and I know there is more to the story than what they posted. IMO, putting a description such as that tends to make everyone a little confused.

Does anyone know if what is posted in the description an actual violation of the TOS?

Yeh, the guy might have some ... um, issues. But in-game screenshots of my polygons isn't going to reflect on anyone but him. And I usually wear undies

Some of them are! The mesh ones you can see through work better as undies than swimsuits though, unless you avoid the PG sims. When I run my yacht around Parrot Island, I usually wear a regular bikini. Tan lines, y'know.

I actually had a guy at a club pester me trying to find out if I was wearing underwear. One, why did it matter so much to him? Two, I was, but sometimes the design of the things doesn't exactly meet in the seam, if you know what I mean? (Design flaw, not intentional!) Three, was it worth pestering me about, or did he just want to talk dirty?

I lean toward (3). Pervs are everywhere, god bless their twisted little hearts.
