I was expecting an actual "free" opera. One that cut costs by getting a skinny lady to sing.

My RL sister and I are working on an operetta, in Italian, based on the video game Missile Command. It's difficult to write, but I'll stream it in when we're done.

For people who don't like Internet Explorer but who also don't like Firefox/Mozilla, Opera is a good third choice. To bad for the Firefox organization they didn't do this 6 months to a year ago. A lot of IE haters have switched to Firefox already and won't see any need to switch again.

Ivect said... A lot of IE haters have switched to Firefox already and won't see any need to switch again. I downloaded Opera today and I have not had a chance to look at all the features yet, but it looks to me to be far superior to Firefox, which I have been using faithfully maybe six months or so. Opera is definately worth a look, even if your the slightest bit interested. |

And here I expected an SL version of Madam Butterfly.
I got one of the "give away" licenses and glad to hear they are making it free, hmm sounds like SL? So it's free to browse but you have to pay 10 a month to bookmark and view porn ![]() I still really pushed Opera to the limit... the problem is this, most websites do a lot of browser checking and write sites that look good in all browsers, so more and more it doesn't matter what you use.... however Writing pages this way eats up a lot of time and money when you could write them ONCE and know they will look good and actually follow the rules of the languages they are written in. I think more people should write pages that match W3C guidelines and ignore micro-crap internet exploder. CSS makes it easy to give links to firefox, and opera to all non-css compliant browsers. |

I want to like Opera..... I really do.
No scratch that.... I do like Opera. There are things it does well.... I want to use it. The lack of an equivalent to the AdBlock plugin (and no, don't try to tell me that setting up a local proxy is the same thing....) and the almost visceral objections to such a plugin from the devs keeps me from using it. |

ack..scroll
09-21-2005 22:42
the only thing stopping me from "switching" to opera is the scroll wheel on this mouse sucks with it.
Other than that... could this be the new IE killer? *heh, what isn't It's a very different experience using it.. now I know why. While it reads data it waits before redraw.. resulting in a smoother appearance of pages and not hogging resources drawing things as they download. You can turn this off if you like. There is a great page to show you each feature it has. Step by step: http://www.opera.com/press/reviews/ Or listed: http://www.opera.com/features/ Give it a spin..it's free http://www.opera.com/ |
