I always use the "return" option, UNLESS someone purposefully litters my land, or leaves offensive crap sitting there. Then I am more than happy to delete anything that might be of value.

One time I had some idiots leave hundreds of plywood cubes way up in the sky over some land I owned. Not sure why they wanted to do this, but they used up all my prim allotment and MY things started getting returned. So I happily found the cubes and used "return" on all of them, just so they'd have to delete them from their inventory one by one. ;)

if the landowner deletes it, then it goes into there trash until they empty the trash...

Return will send it back to you..

I only delete if it is a prim, with no script, so easy to recreate, else I will return it.

if I see someone over my sim in a attack helicopter and they start shooting I find it gratifying to click the helicopter, choose delete and watch them fall to the ground :)

Furthermore, as Second Life goes to the Metaverse, and this becomes an open platform, Linden Lab risks lawsuit in court and [attachment culling] will, I repeat WILL be reverse in court.
