Ok verizon is the scum of the earth! Get this: I called them about a month ago with connection problems. I own a router so I removed it from the network. Got ahold of tech support and problem fixed itself. Tech said it was my router. OK no issue I will pick one up in week or so. Well two weeks later I pick up a wirless router and after getting a few viruses I get Nortan AV as well. I paid about $180 for the whole setup. Come to find out Nortan AV won't run on 2000 Advance Server. No biggie I was going to get XP Pro next month. Then the wirless router kit I bought wasn't working. Couldn't connect to the internet. I spent 4 hours with tech just to be told to take it back to the store. Took it back the next weekend and exchagned it and paid $20 MORE to get a similiar setup by the company my first router came from. IT TO FAILED. Four hours later with thier tech support...next day I went back to the store. Now at the store I figured I should just but XP Pro and a wired router. I had Nortan waiting at home and couldn't return it since it was open. Not to mention Bestbuy wasn' about to give me $200 back. So I bought it another roughly $100 ....and now I can't get into SL. Come to find out my old video card is getting zapped for Video ram between XP graphics and SL (still testing since I had to run to work before fully testing but so far an hour in to the game it ran well). Well that was gonna be the NEXT pruchase cause I wanetd an all in wonder style unit. I went ot today and paid $200. Before I bought the video card my SL conenction was laggy so I thought "maybe it is my new router". I go to unplug it and I have connection issues. Come to find out If you don't release your IP an mac address from Verizons servers you can't plug another item in and get connection. So going from ROUTER to PC is a no no. Wasn't the whole thing that started this was I went from a PC to a ROUTER and was told my router was broken then from them?

Usually the MAC address locking takes place at the modem (in your house) rather than at the DHCP server. Have you tried disconnecting the cable/DSL modem from power for a few minutes? (some of them have a reset button, some of the reset buttons actually work)

Minsk Yeah I found out about it cause the lock happened after I removed the router. It locked my NIC. What I'm pointing out is thier tech support told me the router was broken and I spent all that money on the premise of a broken item that needed to be replaced.

Yes but if someone told you your brakes needed to be replaced and in the process of replacing the brakes you purchased additional items cause of that faulty diagnosis they are held liable. Just a matter of how liable cause yes I did buy things but again all the pruchases made were a result of the initial. After all who wants to buy nortan antivirus LOL.

I'd like to see a mechanic give a "refund" for labor done that wasn't needed due to a mistake...hahahahaha.

Garoad Kuroda ok true bad example I forgot. Traditionally though if an ISP or Tech support tells you a part is bad and it is not then the charges involving the replacement of the item are refunded. P.S. called them up...they are asking for receipts before they will speak to me. Nice concidering I can only call them if I pull an all nighter to speak with them after I get off work.

Oh I'm not trying to prove you wrong at all, I think it's bullshit that we have to pay for mistakes in both cases. Granted if a car's brake's fail due to someone's screwup there could be a different legal result, but usually if it's just a customer's money being taken usually the customer loses out. That might not happen if the customer tries to do something about it, contact the BBB or whatever...but even it might be hard to prove your case.
